It is the story of a family business, handed down from generation to generation, which year after year has supported thousands of pharmacists in the professional and economic realization of their business.

The beginnings
It was 1919 when Theodor Kohl, a man of great entrepreneurial spirit and a far-sighted visionary, decided to transform his passion for wood and design into a carpentry with a design studio in Regensburg, Germany. It is the beginning of a long history of passion in the service of pharmacies.

Our drawer units
Right from the start the company stood out for its ability to respond to the needs of individual pharmacies with innovative and performing solutions. An innovation that culminated in 1964 when Th.Kohl introduced his “drawer units for pharmacies”, which became an industry standard and are still used today by thousands of pharmacists.

International success
Customer satisfaction and the spread of the company name through word of mouth lead Th.Kohl to receive requests from all over Europe. This is where the company goes, ready to face the new challenges of the market with enthusiasm and determination, developing new solutions for various international customers.

Arrival in Italy
n order to satisfy the increasing number of requests from all over the continent, in 1965 Theodor Kohl - son of the founder of the company in Germany - decided to open a branch in Italy. Our headquarter in Badia Calavena near Verona was then opened.

Horizontal exposure
Trends change and pharmacies must know how to evolve with them: in 1988 we were the first company to propose the concept of horizontal display in the pharmacy, revolutionizing the rules of visual merchandising in the sector with ideas still used in the world of retail.

Design of excellence
Strong of our German origins but proud of our Italian soul, in 1992 we enriched our Made in Italy quality with an all-Italian design thanks to the collaboration with the famous designer Antonio Citterio. The system born from this collaboration is the “Europa” system.

Focus on technology
Strengthened by the experience gained in the sector and aware of the increasingly important role that technology will play, Theodor Kohl's son-in-law Alexander von Liechtenstein in 2007 founded Pharmathek, a company specializing in the design of automated warehouses for pharmacies, which over the years has become one of the industry leaders.

Prominent collaborations
To continue to combine beauty and functionality, in 2009 we began the collaboration with the world-famous industrial designer Alberto Meda who over the years will lead to the development of various furniture lines, such as XF and Logik, and to visual communication systems such as Vi.Co.

Our first 100 years
1919 - 2019: A century has passed since Theodor Kohl senior designed the first pharmacy. Since then fashions, materials and trends have passed but the passion and attention with which we take care of our projects has remained the same.

The family expands
To Th.Kohl and Pharmathek, managed respectively by the daughter and the son-in-law of Theodor Kohl, is added Mattec, a project management company for shops, hotels and restaurants with references all over the world.
